Repeated yeast infection in the mouth is common among the elderly. Reduced production of saliva and frequent intake of medicines promote the growth of yeast.

Researchers incorporated a mixture of probiotics containing GG probiotic into cheese which was eaten by elderly persons for 4 months. The oldest person in this clinical study was 96 years old.

The presence of probiotics reduced the risk of yeast infection in the mouth by 75%.
