它能提高胃部內層治癒來自藥物、酒精或傳染病的壓力。

它亦能抑制幽門螺旋桿菌(導致胃潰瘍及癌癥的細菌)的增長。

壹項臨床實驗發現，經常服用珠珠益生菌，能保護胃部內層被壹種常見的、名為印甲新的止痛劑，所引起的損害。

香港大學的研究人員已確認，這益生菌菌株能提高治癒潰瘍的能力及保護胃部內層避免因酒精所引起的潰瘍。
